This paper presents a comparative study of GraphQL and REST APIs, focusing on their application in data-intensive scenarios. We explore the core differences in their design principles, performance, flexibility, and scalability, along with their suitability for handling large volumes of dynamic data. Based on a series of benchmarks and use case evaluations, the paper highlights the strengths and limitations of each approach, providing valuable insights for developers and organizations seeking to optimize their API architectures for data-heavy applications.
